Jones Bowman LogoThe Jones-Bowman Leadership Award Program

The Jones-Bowman Leadership Program was established in 2007 to honor the memory and leadership of Principal Chief Leon Jones and James Bowman, members of the Board of Directors of the Cherokee Preservation Foundation.

The Program offers Fellowships that will provide funding of approximately $3,000 each year beyond EBCI scholarships and other financial aid.  Fellows, who must be enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, will be chosen for their leadership potential, and the Fellowship will be renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study. Funding will enable each Jones-Bowman Fellow to create an individual leadership learning program, which would include activities such as special academic enrichment and tutoring programs, domestic and foreign travel, conferences and leadership development training, mentoring experiences, and sponsored volunteer service.
